Born in Austin Texas into a military family, I lived in several places before my father's last duty assignment in Charleston. My parents loved Charlestonso much, that upon my father's retirement from the United States Air Force, they decided to call it home. I grew up in the West Ashley section of Charleston and attended public schools. I have lived and worked in Charleston for over 45 years.
Along with my busy work schedule, I am actively involved with my family. I married my high school sweetheart, Karen. We will celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary in August. Karen and I have four wonderful children. Michael,27, works in sales and purchased his first home in North Charleston. Jennifer, 24, graduated from the College of Charleston and got married in April 2008 and they bought a home in West Ashley. Matthew, 22 is going to school at Trident Technical College to be an EMT and is employed part time. Our youngest is Mark,20, is in his second year of college at Trident Technical College.
Professional Information
With having such a varied range of occupations, I have found that they all have one thing in common, working with people. My first job after high school was being a patrolman with the Charleston City Police Department. Talk about working with people. I really enjoyed the job but when our family started, my wife was more concerned. I then went into the restaurant business where I was promoted to the position of General Manager of a regional restaurant chain within 15 months which was much faster than the 36 month average. After working for this company for a total of 8 years, I decided to try owning and operating a restaurant of my own. I opened a Deli and Sandwich shop. I then opened a sports bar, and also a "19th Hole" at the local municipal golf course. I ran all 3 of these at the same time. I closed the deli after hurricane Hugo and sold my sports bar and golf course snack bar. I then opened a Coin and Sports Card hobby store and ran that myself until I sold it. I have been successful because I know how to treat people. I bring the same energy and efforts into my Real Estate career.
